Obverse description Intaglio portrait of General José María Orellana at right, set against a green guilloche underprint with Maya-inspired decorative borders; a quetzal bird vignette appears at upper left beside the denomination numeral '1' in the centre, with the serial number printed twice in black. A caption below the portrait reads 'GENERAL JOSE MARIA ORELLANA / PRESIDENTE DE LA REPUBLICA, 1921-1926, EN CUYO / GOBIERNO FUE CREADA LA MONEDA QUETZAL'. Reverse description The central vignette presents an intaglio view of the Edificio del Banco de Guatemala headquarters in Guatemala City, rendered in fine line engraving against a light guilloche background. To the left stands the Placa de Leyden, a pre-Columbian Maya jade plaque with an accompanying hieroglyphic inscription column. To the right of the building appears the circular Ara de Tikal seal, with Maya decorative motifs and denomination numerals completing the corners.
