A decorative numeral '1' counter appears to the right of the central vignette, and the denomination is stated in Afrikaans, English, and German on a scroll banner at lower centre, all enclosed within a scalloped guilloche border with numeral '1' medallions at each corner. The printer's imprint of Waterlow & Sons Limited, London appears at the foot.
