| 正面铭文 | The Royal Bank of Scotland plc PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND ONE POUND STERLING AT THEIR HEAD OFFICE HERE IN EDINBURGH BY ORDER OF THE BOARD |
| 背面描述 | A detailed intaglio vignette of Edinburgh Castle dominates the left and centre of the note, set atop its volcanic rock with the city's buildings and the domed Royal Scottish Academy visible on the lower slopes. The bank title in bold letterpress appears at upper right, with guilloche rosette ornaments in pale green filling the background. The £1 numeral appears at lower left, echoing the obverse format. |

| 备注 |
The Royal Bank of Scotland's £1 note series continued well past the point when the Bank of England had withdrawn its own £1 note from circulation — England's last £1 note was issued in 1984 and demonetized in 1988, but Scottish banknotes operate under a separate legal framework that has never required parity of denominations with the Bank of England. RBS kept the pound note alive largely for practical reasons: vending machines and public transport infrastructure in Scotland were calibrated for it.
Charles Winter served as Managing Director during a period of significant structural change within the bank. De La Rue had been the RBS printer of record for decades by this point, the relationship long predating this series.
