| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features the Royal Arms of England rendered in high relief, depicting a quartered shield supported by a crowned lion passant guardant to the left and a unicorn to the right, surmounted by a royal crown. The shield displays the traditional heraldic quarterings of England, Scotland, and Ireland, encircled by the Garter with its motto, and below the shield appears the Gibraltar crest of a castle with a key. The legend GIBRALTAR arcs along the upper rim, with the date 2022 divided by the royal crown above the shield. The denomination 1 POUND appears along the lower rim, while 1 TROY OUNCE and 999 FINE SILVER are inscribed vertically in the left and right fields respectively. |

Gibraltar's pound coinage occupies an unusual constitutional position — the territory issues its own currency under royal prerogative, legally distinct from sterling but fixed at parity with it. The "Royal Arms of England" series draws on the heraldic grammar of the medieval English crown, and the war elephant specifically references the elephant and castle that has appeared in Gibraltar's own civic arms for centuries, a symbol with roots in the Moorish and early Castilian occupation of the Rock long before British annexation in 1704.
