Egypt's parliament building — the People's Assembly hall in Cairo — underwent a major restoration project in the 1980s under Mubarak's government, part of a broader campaign to rehabilitate state architecture damaged or neglected since Nasser's era. Commemorative gold issues from the Central Bank of Egypt during this period were struck in deliberately limited quantities, distributed largely through official channels rather than open market release, which explains why survivors appear almost exclusively in original packaging.
