| Obverse description | Printed in blue and yellow with a guilloche underprint, the obverse carries a central engraved vignette of Marischal College, Aberdeen at the top, flanked by large numeral '1' counters on each side within a decorative border. The bank's heraldic arms appear at the lower left, with additional armorial shields at the corners, while the issuer's name is set in bold letterpress across the centre above the promise-to-pay text.
