Beschrijving keerzijde A classically robed female allegorical figure representing Courage or Fortuna is depicted seated three-quarters to the left, rendered in gold-gilded high relief against a polished field. She wears a helmet and holds a sceptre or mace upright in her right hand, her drapery billowing dramatically behind her. At her side rests an ornate heraldic shield bearing the arms of the East India Company. The Latin motto FORTES FORTUNA ADIUVAT arcs across the upper legend, with the EIC monogram appearing in the lower field.

Aanvullende informatie

Saint Helena has issued commemorative coinage under British authority since the 19th century, but the island's modern collector program accelerated sharply after East India Company Historical Coinage Ltd gained licensing rights in the 2010s. This gilded variant — locally applied gold plating over fine silver — sits in a product tier common to small-island issuers competing in the international bullion-collector market, where partial gilding commands a premium with minimal additional production cost.

The KM#148a suffix distinguishes this from the base silver strike. Local gilding means application was done on Saint Helena rather than at the striking facility.
