A central circular vignette carries an intaglio seal bearing a classical seated figure. The promise-to-pay text is rendered in a flowing script typeface, with the denomination ONE POUND STERLING in bold letterpress, serial numbers at left and right, two facsimile signatures for Governor and Treasurer, the date and place of issue EDINBURGH at centre-bottom, and the founding legend CONSTITUTED BY ACT OF PARLIAMENT 1695 along the lower border. |
