Obverse description Printed in blue and red on white paper, the obverse carries the bold header "NATIONAL BANK OF EGYPT" across the top, above a central text panel with the promise to pay legend in both English and Arabic, set against an elaborate red guilloche underprint. A tall vignette at left illustrates an Egyptian temple ruin framed by palm trees, while arabesque cartouches at lower left and right bear the denomination "جنيه مصري" (one Egyptian pound) in Arabic numerals, with additional value numerals in the upper corners.
