Obverse description Circular field centred on a round perforation, around which a continuous Arabic legend is disposed in a clockwise direction, occupying the entire annular field between the central hole and the raised rim. The inscription, rendered in a loosely cast Jawi script, reads 'fi balad Palembang Dar al-Salam' followed by the Hijri date 1162, identifying the city of Palembang as the abode of peace. The casting surface shows characteristic coarse granularity and uneven relief typical of Palembang tin pitis production. No decorative border or inner circle separates the legend from the central perforation.
