The reverse legend PACEM LOQVETUR GENTIBUS, meaning 'He shall speak peace unto the nations' (Zechariah 9:10), arcs across the upper field. The composition is a masterful example of late Baroque narrative numismatic art, demonstrating the high artistic standards of the Roman papal mint. |
