| Beschrijving keerzijde | Five-line inscription in Roman capital letters occupying the entire field, stating the denomination and coin type: the numeral 'I' at the top flanked by two small rosette ornaments, followed by 'PFENNING', 'SCHEIDE:', 'MUNTZ', and the date '1694' at the base, the latter flanked by pellets. The lettering is bold and well-spaced, filling the flan in the manner characteristic of late 17th-century German Scheidemünze. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Ernest Augustus became the first Elector of Hanover in 1692, a title extracted from Emperor Leopold I through years of political maneuvering and a promised military contribution of 6,000 troops for the War of the Grand Alliance. This pfennig dates to just two years after that elevation — and two years before his death in 1698. His son, the future George I of Britain, inherited both the electorate and whatever small copper remained in circulation.
