| Obverse description | The obverse features the Imperial German eagle displayed, with wings spread and head turned to the right, crowned with the imperial crown above. The eagle bears a large heraldic shield on its breast depicting the Hohenzollern arms, with elaborate decorative mantling and foliate ornaments at the base. The mint mark appears in the lower field, flanking the base of the eagle on either side. No surrounding legend is present; the design fills the coin field in a bold, relief style characteristic of the Wilhelmine era. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays the large numeral '1' in the centre of the field, serving as the denomination indicator. The circular legend 'DEUTSCHES REICH' arcs along the upper portion of the coin, with the date appearing vertically along the right side. The inscription '· PFENNIG ·' with two pellet stops curves along the lower portion, completing the design. A raised inner circle frames the central field, separating it from the surrounding legend. The overall design is plain and functional, with clear, bold lettering in a serif style. |
