Montfort-Peggau was a small Styrian lordship whose coinage rights were exercised sporadically and often contentiously with Habsburg oversight. John VIII's copper pfennig issues of 1676 represent some of the final coinage struck under the county's independent authority before absorption into the broader Austrian administrative structure rendered local minting effectively obsolete.
