Obverse description Elaborate crowned royal cypher of Duke Alexius Frederick Christian of Anhalt-Bernburg, formed by the interlaced script initials A (for Alexius) surmounted by a princely crown with elaborate scrollwork and flourishes. The monogram is rendered in fine cursive relief occupying the majority of the coin field, with no peripheral legend. The overall design is executed in a refined Baroque-influenced style typical of early nineteenth-century German small coinage.
