Albrecht II — called "the Lame" due to a paralytic condition that confined him largely to Vienna — proved an unexpectedly capable administrator who overhauled Habsburg monetary policy in the 1330s, bringing greater consistency to the duchy's small silver coinage after decades of fragmented regional minting.
