Additional information

Albrecht II — called "the Lame" due to a paralytic condition that confined him largely to Vienna — proved an unexpectedly capable administrator who overhauled Habsburg monetary policy in the 1330s, bringing greater consistency to the duchy's small silver coinage after decades of fragmented regional minting. The pfennig denomination carried most of the everyday transactional burden in the Austrian lands throughout his reign, and surviving examples show correspondingly heavy circulation wear as a rule.

The CNA B239 attribution places this squarely within the reorganized Vienna mint output, distinguished from contemporaneous Wiener Neustadt issues by subtle die characteristics documented by Koch.
