VS+ COMES+ DE+ CLEVE, identifying the issuer as Count of Cleves. The lettering is executed in uncial Gothic script, characteristic of late 14th- to early 15th-century Rhenish coinage. The overall relief is low, consistent with hammered silver pfennig production of the period. |
