Obverse description Central shield bearing the quartered arms of Cleves, with alternating fields of trefoils and a heart motif, rendered in a late medieval Gothic heraldic style. The shield is presented upright within the coin field without additional supporters. A circular legend surrounds the central device, reading partially as (...) VS+ COMES+ DE+ CLEVE, identifying the issuer as Count of Cleves. The lettering is executed in uncial Gothic script, characteristic of late 14th- to early 15th-century Rhenish coinage. The overall relief is low, consistent with hammered silver pfennig production of the period.
