Obverse description Printed in black and olive-green intaglio on a pale guilloche underprint overlaid with repeated patriotic text reading «PATRIA O MUERTE» and «TERRITORIO LIBRE DE AMERICA», the obverse carries a portrait of José Martí at right, his name inscribed in a panel along the lower border. A central guilloche rosette bears the numeral «1» and the word «PESO», flanked to the left by a squared «BC» monogram vignette. The bank title runs in bold letterpress across the top, with denomination numerals at the lower corners.

Reverse description Executed in black intaglio on a pale guilloche underprint, the reverse centres on a large scenic vignette of Fidel Castro and revolutionary combatants atop a vehicle during the triumphal entry into Havana on 8 January 1959, with urban buildings visible in the background. The denomination numeral «1» appears in the upper-left and lower-right corners, the lower-right corner additionally carrying a small ornate stamp device. The inscription «REPUBLICA DE CUBA» runs in bold letterpress across the top, and the commemorative caption is set along the lower border.
