Obverse description Black letterpress print on an orange underprint with red overprint and red serial numbers. At left, a Seated Liberty vignette portrays a female figure holding a plaque in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. At centre, the Mexican national arms — an eagle with a serpent in its beak perched on a nopal cactus rising from Lake Texcoco — is set against a background evoking the volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl.

Reverse description Brown intaglio print on plain paper ground, dominated by an elaborate guilloche framework with four quatrefoil corner ornaments each bearing the denomination numeral. A large central oval medallion contains the vignette of a Mexican one-peso coin reverse — the sunburst cap-and-rays cap of liberty — surrounded by the legend REPUBLICA MEXICANA, itself enclosed within concentric engine-turned bands. Two smaller oval cartouches flanking the centre carry the text legend in two parts, and two red circular validation seals are applied in the upper left and upper right areas.
Reverse lettering ESTE BILLETE CIRCULARA DE ACUERDO CON EL DECRETO DE 19 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1914
