Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield quartered with a royal palm, a golden key between two rock formations, and diagonal blue and white stripes, surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a staff and flanked by an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right, with a fasces tied at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery in Latin letters. The denomination 1 PESO is inscribed in the lower field beneath the arms.
