Reverse description This face displays the original reverse of the Chilean host coin, a silver 1/2 Real struck at the Santiago Mint in 1848, upon which a Guatemalan counterstamp has been applied. The host coin's reverse features a crowned shield of Chile flanked by laurel and oak branches tied at the base, with the legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE along the upper arc and the date 1848 at the base with mintmaster initials. The applied Guatemalan counterstamp, centrally placed, depicts the reverse of the 1/2 Real of 1894 showing the figure of Justice, and bears the legend REPUBLICA DE GUATEMALA 30 DE JUNIO DE 1871 with the denomination 1/2 REAL visible within the incuse stamp impression.
