Obverse description The obverse bears a counterstamp consisting of the obverse design of the Guatemalan 1/2 Real of 1894, applied to a host coin whose own obverse depicts the national coat of arms. The host coin's coat of arms is accompanied by fineness inscriptions and the date 1894 in the exergue, while the counterstamp superimposes a smaller coat of arms device, framed by the legend LIBERTAD and the date 15 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1821, alongside a fineness notation of 0.835 for the host and 0.900 for the counterstamp. Both designs share the field, with the counterstamp impression clearly distinguishable from the underlying host coin design.
