Reverse description The reverse of the host coin presents an allegorical figure of Justice seated, holding a balance scale in her left hand and a cornucopia in her right, with her arm resting upon a representation of the Constitution. The surrounding legend reads REPUBLICA DE GUATEMALA with the date 30 DE JUNIO DE 1871, and the denomination UN PESO appears in the lower field. The counterstamp applied to this side reproduces the reverse of the 1894 1/2 Real, also depicting the Justice motif with the legend REPUBLICA DE GUATEMALA, the date 30 DE JUNIO DE 1871, and the value 1/2 REAL. The engraver's name LAGRANGE is incused beneath the seated figure on both the host coin and counterstamp impressions.
