Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided into three quarters: the upper portion displays a rising sun over a landscape with a key and two promontories; the lower left quarter bears diagonal stripes representing the original Cuban provinces; and the lower right quarter depicts a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a pike, flanked on each side by an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right, both issuing from the base. Two five-pointed stars appear at the lower left and right within the border. The curved legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination UN PESO is inscribed along the lower periphery.
