The Banco Nacional del Salvador was dissolved in 1913 when El Salvador centralized its currency system, making any notes issued in the final years of the bank's operation relatively short-lived in circulation. The 1908 date places this squarely in that closing window — fewer than five years before the institution ceased to exist.
Salvadoran private and semi-official bank issues from this period are poorly documented in standard references, and P#161 sits in a catalog range where condition and provenance details vary significantly between known examples.
