| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in red and black on white paper, with an elaborate guilloche underprint framing a central vignette of a large numeral "1" set within an ornate cartouche. The bank title "BANCO NACIONAL DEL SALVADOR" arches across the top in bold letterpress, with "AMERICA CENTRAL" below it; the serial number 16010 appears at left and right, and the place and date "SAN SALVADOR" and "15 DE SEPTIEMBRE 1908" are inscribed in the lower field. A promise-to-pay text in Spanish — "Pagará al portador... a la vista y en efectiva" — runs across the mid-section, and three manuscript signatures of bank officials appear along the bottom edge. |
