| 表面の説明 | The obverse is dominated by a central vignette of an ox-drawn cart loaded with goods, rendered in fine intaglio engraving, flanked on either side by large ornamental numeral «1» panels set within intricate guilloche rosettes. The bank title «BANCO INTERNACIONAL» appears in bold letterpress across the upper border, with the place and date inscription «Bogotá 15 de Diciembre de 1884» in the upper field. The lower portion carries the bearer clause «Pagará al portador UN PESO en moneda corriente» along with signature lines for the Director Segundo and Director Gerente, with an oval «Banco Nacional» overprint stamp visible at center-right. |

Banco Internacional was a short-lived Mexican private bank, one of several regional institutions authorized to issue notes during the Porfiriato — a period when Díaz's government deliberately fragmented banking privileges to limit any single institution's power. The American Bank Note Company handled virtually all serious Mexican private bank printing in this period; New York-engraved plates were the norm for any institution wanting its notes treated as credible.
S-prefix placement in Pick puts this squarely in the unissued or regionally limited category. Whether notes from this bank reached meaningful circulation before the 1884–85 banking consolidations is genuinely unclear.
