备注

Banco Nacional was Colombia's first formally chartered national bank, established in 1821 under the newly independent republic. Its note issues from the 1820s are among the earliest circulating paper money from post-independence South America, predating most regional banking infrastructure by decades. The institution was short-lived — chronic undercapitalization and political instability effectively paralyzed it well before mid-century, and its note issues were never recalled in any organized fashion.

PS prefix in the Pick catalogue indicates a private or semi-official issuer rather than a central state authority — an important distinction for a period when Colombia's monetary arrangements were genuinely experimental. Surviving examples from this series are rare by any measure.
