| 表面の説明 | Blue letterpress text on plain paper with a small rhomboid municipal coat of arms positioned to the left, flanked by symmetrical floral ornamental designs. The central field carries the issuing authority legend and the denomination in Catalan, with the date of issue inscribed in the lower portion. The overall layout is typical of austere wartime emergency currency produced by local Spanish municipalities during the Civil War period. |

One of hundreds of municipal emergency notes issued across Republican-held Spain during the Civil War, when the collapse of small-denomination coinage circulation forced local governments to print their own. Tortosa, a strategically important city on the Ebro, was under Republican control until April 1938, when Franco's forces took it after the brutal Battle of the Ebro. Notes issued by its Ajuntament became worthless almost immediately after.
Algueró-Baiges was a local print shop, not a specialist currency printer — which is precisely why these municipal issues vary so widely in quality and security features across the series.
