Opmerkingen

One of hundreds of municipal emergency notes issued across Catalonia during the Civil War, when the collapse of small-denomination coinage left local governments scrambling to keep petty commerce functioning. The Ajuntament de Pineda — a small coastal town north of Barcelona — commissioned this note from Imprenta V. Pedemonte in the nearby town of Calella, a practical choice that kept costs and logistics manageable under wartime conditions.

Turró's catalog documents the full spread of these Catalan municipal issues; #1824 places Pineda's emission among the later-war printings of 1937, by which point the Republican zone had seen two full years of coinage shortage.
