Vorderseitenbeschreibung Printed entirely in red on plain paper, the obverse is set against a dotted geometric underprint of small squares arranged in bands and rectangular blocks. The issuer's name 'CONSEJO MUNICIPAL DE PARCENT' appears in bold letterpress at the top, with the promise text and date of 15 March 1937 in the central field. To the left, a circular violet official municipal stamp overlaps the underprint, and a handwritten signature of the mayor (El Alcalde ordenador de pagos) is applied in ink below the text, along with a handstamped validation mark at lower right.

Rückseitenbeschreibung The reverse is printed in red on an otherwise plain cream paper ground, carrying a single bold typographic device at centre: the denomination legend '1 PTA.' rendered in large, open letterpress characters set within a composite vignette of five interlocking lobed circles, the whole formed by a uniform grid of small red squares that creates a textured, dot-matrix effect. No further design elements or border ornamentation are present.

Anmerkungen

Parcent is a village in the Marina Alta comarca of Valencia with a population that barely exceeded a few hundred during the Civil War years. That a municipality this small issued its own emergency paper money in 1937 is less surprising than it might seem — the collapse of small-denomination coinage across Republican-controlled Spain forced hundreds of towns and villages to print their own local currency, a phenomenon so widespread it became policy rather than improvisation. The Generalitat eventually attempted to regulate it, with limited success.

The Gari Mon catalogue documents thousands of these consejo municipal emissions; #1073-B implies at least two known varieties for Parcent, which is itself notable given the scale of the issuer.
