Llanes is a small coastal municipality in Asturias, and this note belongs to the vast and chaotic family of Spanish Civil War emergency paper — locally issued fractional currency produced by municipalities, trade unions, and cooperatives when the Republican government failed to maintain adequate supplies of small-denomination coin after 1936. These local emissions were authorized under emergency decree but wildly inconsistent in execution, and many circulated only within a single town or even a single market.
Gari Mon#844-B suggests a variant within the Llanes series — likely a color, signature, or serial block distinction from the primary type. The Garrido Martín catalog remains the specialist reference for these Asturian emissions, and unlisted or underrepresented variants still surface occasionally from old Cantabrian collections.
