Altorricón is a small municipality in the Huesca province of Aragon, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its municipal council issued emergency small-denomination paper when coin coinage disappeared almost entirely from circulation after 1936. Hoarding, requisitioning, and the general collapse of the Republican monetary supply hit rural Aragon particularly hard, forcing local bodies to fill the gap with whatever they could print.
The Gari Monovar catalog remains the primary reference for these Spanish local issues, and the -B suffix here suggests at least one variant exists — likely a difference in paper stock, signature, or overprint.
