Vorderseitenbeschreibung Printed in olive-green and red on cream paper, the face is divided by a dotted rectangular border into two distinct panels: the left carries a central denomination cartouche inscribed 'UNA PTA' within a cross-shaped geometric underprint of fine horizontal lines, flanked by vertical rule ornaments and a small radiating fan motif in red below, while the right panel bears the issuer's title 'Consejo Municipal de ALHABIA' in large red letterpress type, followed by a Gothic-script redemption clause, the written denomination 'Una peseta', and a signature line above the printed title 'El Depositario'. A small floral vignette in red appears at the lower right corner, with the printer's imprint 'Papelería Lacoste - Almería' at the foot of the note.

Anmerkungen

Alhabia is a village of a few hundred inhabitants in the Almería province of Andalusia — the kind of municipality that would never have issued its own currency under ordinary circumstances. These local emergency notes, known as "cartones" or "billetes de necesidad," proliferated across Republican-held Spain during 1936–1938 when the Civil War severed normal coin supply chains and small change became functionally unavailable. Hundreds of town councils, cooperatives, and even individual businesses issued their own scrip simply to keep commerce moving.

Papelería Lacoste in Almería served as a practical regional printer for several of these municipal issues in the province, which accounts for a certain family resemblance across notes from nearby towns. The Gari Mon catalogue remains the primary reference for this material; the "B" suffix indicates a recognized variant within the type.
