Obverse description Obverse trial strike on a square klippe flan with slightly irregular edges. The die presents a multi-line Arabic inscription within a raised circular border, the legend translating as: 'Slave trade abolished in England in 1807, in the reign of King George III. We are all brethren.' The engraver's signature 'J. P. FECIT' appears in Latin script below the Arabic text. This piece represents an experimental striking to test the obverse die, with the design contained within a recessed circular field set against a flat square planchet.
