Henry VI's second reign lasted just six months, from October 1470 to April 1471, ended when Edward IV retook the throne and had Henry murdered in the Tower. Coinage from this restoration period is consequently scarce by any measure — the London mint had barely resumed striking before the political situation collapsed entirely.
Spink 2087 / North 1622 places this issue among the lighter-weight pennies of the period, reflecting the ongoing reduction in silver content that had been eroding English penny coinage since the mid-fifteenth century.
