The king is depicted full-face, wearing a jewelled crown, and holds a sceptre in his right hand. A beaded inner circle frames the portrait, with the royal legend distributed around the periphery within the outer boundary of the flan. Minor varieties in the crown form and letter style are known within this class. |

| Mô tả mặt sau | A voided long cross extends to the full edge of the coin, dividing the reverse into four quarters, each bearing a trefoil of pellets in the angles — a design introduced with the Long Cross coinage of 1247 to deter clipping. A single pellet is placed at the centre of the cross. The moneyer and mint name legend is distributed across the four quarters of the cross in two-letter groups, reading continuously around the field. The cross terminals are pommée in form. Minor varieties in letter forms and pellet arrangement are recorded within class 5a. |
