| Obverse description | Facing crowned bust of King Henry III rendered in crude hammered style, the king depicted without sceptre, with a stylised bearded visage featuring prominent eyes and a wide face enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The crown is shown with three ornamental points or fleurs. A circular Latin legend in uncial script runs around the periphery of the coin within the beaded border, identifying the monarch. |

| Reverse description | A voided long cross pommée extending to the coin's edge, dividing the reverse into four quadrants, with a pellet at the centre and a trefoil ornament in each angle formed by the cross arms. A circular Latin legend in uncial script runs around the periphery, naming the moneyer and mint of issue. The design is characteristic of the Long Cross coinage introduced in 1247 to deter clipping. |
