Obverse lettering GEORGIVS V D.G: BRITT: OMN: REX F.D. IND:IMP:
(Translation: George the Fifth by the Grace of God King of all the Britains Defender of the Faith Emperor of India)
Reverse description The numeral '1' in a bold, vertically lined style dominates the centre of the field, surmounted by a St. Edward's Crown rendered in fine relief. The four-digit date is split to either side of the central numeral — '19' to the left and the final two digits to the right — creating a balanced, symmetrical composition. Two sprays of oak leaves and acorns flank the design, tied together at the base with a ribbon bow, forming a wreath that frames the entire central motif. The design is attributed to Jean Baptiste Merlen and reflects the traditional, elegant style used for British Maundy coinage.
