| 裏面の説明 | A bold six-pointed star (hexagram) formed by two interlocking equilateral triangles dominates the field, centered on the round hole at its core. The territorial legend NIGERIA-BRITISH WEST AFRICA arcs around the upper and lateral periphery in serif capital letters. The four-digit date is inscribed in the lower exergual area, flanked by raised dots, with a beaded border running along the rim. |

British West Africa's coinage was administered through the West African Currency Board, established in 1912 — which creates an immediate problem with these dates, since the Board did not yet exist when this coin was struck. Issues from 1907–1910 were produced under an earlier arrangement through the Bank of British West Africa, a private institution granted limited monetary authority across the four territories of Nigeria, Gold Coast, Sierra Leone, and Gambia before unified colonial currency infrastructure existed.
Minted at the Royal Mint, London, with some output contracted to Heaton's in Birmingham.
