| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing crowned effigy of King Edward IV, rendered in the typical flat, schematic style of mid-fifteenth-century English hammered coinage, with the crown prominent at the top of the flan and flowing hair visible at the sides of the face. A mintmark appears at 12 o'clock above the crown. The surrounding legend, inscribed in uncial Gothic lettering, reads + EDWARD · REX AnGLIE, identifying the king as Edward, King of England. The flan is irregular in shape, as characteristic of hand-struck medieval pennies. |
