| 表面の説明 | Facing bust of King David I, depicted in a stylised Romanesque manner typical of mid-12th-century Scottish coinage. The king wears a crown or diadem, with curling hair rendered in bold relief on either side of the face. The facial features are rendered in a bold, somewhat schematic style characteristic of hammered pennies of this period. The legend DAVID REX surrounds the effigy, though on many specimens the irregular flan causes partial truncation of the inscription. |

| 裏面の説明 | A voided short cross with curved, scrolling terminals in each quarter, forming a fleur-de-lis or floriated cross design characteristic of Period C coinage of David I. A pellet is placed at the centre of the cross, and additional pellets or annulets appear in the angles between the cross arms. The surrounding legend bears the name of the moneyer and mint, variable according to the issuing authority, divided by the arms of the cross. The flan is irregular and the strike variable, as typical of Scottish hammered pennies of this era. |
