| Popis rubu | A voided short cross with curved, scrolling terminals in each quarter, forming a fleur-de-lis or floriated cross design characteristic of Period C coinage of David I. A pellet is placed at the centre of the cross, and additional pellets or annulets appear in the angles between the cross arms. The surrounding legend bears the name of the moneyer and mint, variable according to the issuing authority, divided by the arms of the cross. The flan is irregular and the strike variable, as typical of Scottish hammered pennies of this era. |
