| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse displays a voided or plain cross dividing the field into four quarters, a design type widely adopted from contemporary Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-Scandinavian coinage. Pellets or rudimentary decorative elements appear in the angles of the cross arms. A partial Latin legend naming the moneyer Gereitha and the mint of Nidarnes (Nidaros, present-day Trondheim) runs around the periphery, though the legend is partially obscured by the irregular flan and weak strike. The composition closely follows the long-cross penny types then current in England and Denmark. |
