Obverse description Central field occupied by a quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of Austria-Burgundy-Brabant, surmounted by an ornate crown whose arched canopy breaks into the surrounding circular legend. The shield is divided quarterly, displaying fleurs-de-lis in the upper dexter and lower sinister quarters alongside the Brabantine lion rampant in the remaining quarters. A beaded inner circle frames the shield, separating it from the peripheral Latin legend rendered in uncial characters. The overall style is characteristic of late-fifteenth-century Low Countries hammered billon coinage, with bold relief on the shield and crown contrasting with the worn, irregular flan.
