| Reverse description | Central field bears a large ornate cross fleury with a rosette at its center, the four arms terminating in fleurs-de-lis and flanked by fire steels (briquets) in each angle, consistent with the 'Briquet' type coinage of Philip the Handsome. The cross is contained within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding field carries a Latin prayer legend in uncial characters, incorporating the regnal date in the form of a Roman numeral or abbreviated year. The overall die work is characteristic of the Antwerp or Brabant mint workshops of the 1480s. |
