| Reverse description | A long forked cross occupying the full field, its arms terminating at the edge of a quadrilobe formed by four rounded lobes, with a double-headed imperial eagle displayed at the center of the cross. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the circumferential Latin legend incorporating the date 1594. The double-headed eagle alludes to the authority of the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II, under whose suzerainty the Prince-Bishopric of Liège operated. The overall composition is typical of late 16th-century ecclesiastical billon coinage of the Low Countries. |
