Madho Singh II ruled Jaipur from 1880 until his death in 1922, maintaining an unusually close personal relationship with the British Crown — he famously transported Ganges water to London for the 1902 coronation of Edward VII, unwilling to consume any other water during the voyage. The joint-authority coinage issued under his reign and Victoria's name reflects the formal suzerainty arrangement rather than any shared administrative reality; Jaipur's mint operated with considerable local autonomy throughout.
